Literary Institute

The Literary Institute is Camp Bestival’s oasis of enlightenment. In daylight hours kids can find a whole world of inspirational fun including workshops, games, and interactive learning, while the more mature can enjoy a relaxing realm of rumination, taking in a host of talks, conversation, and Q&As. But as the flamboyance sounds its crepuscule chorus and twilight sends the wee ones to their beds, the space reorientates to become The Pink Flamingo, where intellect and wisdom is served on a hotbed of adult-themed entertainment.

Our learned leader Rob da Bank says: “The Literary institute is one of the most amazing things at Camp Bestival. Giving the grown-ups a relaxing retreat while the kids have a ball, there’s tons of inspirational stuff from talks and quizzes to some of the best poets around. I always learn something new and amazing whenever I head in there!”

Talks, conversation, Q&As and book signings across the weekend include fascinating insights from clubland legend Fat Tony, Chris Packham In Conversation, Man vs Baby - Trolls and Tribulations and Fearne Cotton in conversation with Rob da Bank. And don’t miss Gentle Guidance With Children’s Behavioural Expert Marie GentlesElle Mace, Matt Coyne & Linda Street, Cass Pennant - Football, Front Lines And Non Fiction, Model & Author Munroe Bergdorf, and the WWF.

Education, workshops, Interactive Learning and lashings of fun include Horrible Histories 30th Anniversary with illustrator Martin Brown, Festival Of The Girl,  ‘Take The Jump’, Animation Workshop with Rainbow Collective, Faith & Philosophy For Families With Rae Duke, Drawing With Lottie Brooks Author Katie Kirby, a series of ‘How To’ talks from Dr Maryhan, Dr Oscar Duke, Elle Mace, and Jane Anderson & Holly Tuppen, comedy and illustration from Olaf Falafel and Linda Street presents  Sex & Relationship Education For All Ages and Sex & Relationship Education For Teenagers.
