The Shellac Collective welcome you to the Pig’s Big Ballroom at Camp Bestival where you can relax and enjoy the very best in vintage sounds and quality live acts from across the UK.
Joining our troupe of seasoned Shellac Collective DJs spinning original 78rpm shellac discs we are thrilled to have Camp Bestival favourites, The Black Kat Boppers, Plastic Jeezus, KaraUke, The United Stöats of America and skifflers Railroad Bill back to the Ballroom this year.
This Year We are also especially pleased to welcome the legendary Billy Bragg to the Ballroom as part of our Sunday Skiffle Sessions. Billy Bragg was born in 1957 - the year of peak skiffle - and made his musical debut during the punk rock explosion twenty years later. His experiences in 1977 offered him some insight into the DIY method of making music that was common to both genres. Talking to older musicians over the years, he came to realise the significance of the skiffle craze to the development of British rock.
Joining Billy Bragg and Railroad Bill at the Sunday Skiffle Session in the Pig’s Big Ballroom will be the Joyful sound of the Quinn’s Quinny Skiffle group plus Norfolk’s finest skifflers The Hedge Monkey’s Skiffle Troupe.
New to the Pig’s Big Ballroom this year we are thrilled that we are being joined by Lexie Green and the Indigo Blue, The Sun Kings with their latin and cumbia vibes, The Hedge Inspectors, The Mardlers, plus a chance for some foot-stomping from The Twelve Sullivans presenting their brand of Kick-Arse Celtic folk.
We also welcome back Sara Spade with her new band The Moonshine Sisters. As usual there will be some great entertainment and fun for all the family as Fairy liquid brings you magic and bubbles, and Lucky Dog Theatres present’s Laurel and Hardy.
So come and join The Shellac Collective in the Pig’s Big Ballroom - a little island of analogue in this modern sea of digital for great vintage music you can really dance to!
